Today we will do the CrossFit Games WOD 12.2.  For those of you competing, please watch the video, read the movement standards, and get ready to get after it at 0530.  Here is the link: http://games.crossfit.com/workouts/the-open?#tabs-2

Key points -
Bar starts from the ground, must get fully overhead using a snatch (power, muscle, split or squat snatches are all legit, doing a clean and jerk is NOT legit).
Bar overhead with arms, hips, and knees all fully extended - bar overhead at midline of foot - meaning the weight isn't out of front of your head, but directly OVERhead and inline with your midline.
Bar returns to the floor, touch and go is fine, but bouncing is not
**Please remember that Arvin prohibits dropping weights, so please demonstrate as much control as possible and don't drop the weight unless you have to**
Must use a single barbell and change your own weights without assistance.  Spring clips required.
Scaling is a NOGO for Games competitors, but HIGHLY encouraged for those who are not competing in the Games.
If you physically cannot complete all 30 reps at the rx'd weight, then your performance is terminated and your score is recorded with the last successful rep.  If after that point you want to scale so you can finish the 10 minutes, then by all means go for it.

MEN -
Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
135 pound Snatch, 30 reps
165 pound Snatch, 30 reps
210 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible

WOMEN -
Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
45 pound Snatch, 30 reps
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
100 pound Snatch, 30 reps
120 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible
Post reps complete to comments.

humbled once again

I did 30 x 75 lbs. and then spent the remaining 6 minutes attempting to get 135 lbs....which never happened. Nice work by those who hit it this morning!

I then worked on deadlifts afterwards at 225 and 275.

ok just finished this, and it was super intense. you guys looked really great this morning, just some technique coaching and you all would have breezed through. i can't wait for the oly cert on 25 march (slots still open!!) to hone my own form and perhaps point others in the right direction.
humbling.
30 reps @ 45.
1 @ 75 followed by 3 terrible misses haha
24 @ 65.

Aloha,

Still tending to extra fatherly duties so I did this one in the garage without bumper plates. I scaled to the Masters Men's weight (AKA the Women's weight)

67 total reps:
30 @ 45lbs
30 @ 75lbs
7 @ 100lbs

I finished off with deadlifts up to 335lbs. I failed at 345lbs.

Post-op is going much better than I thought. Just no high impact stuff is what the doctor told me (running specifically)

Went in for a strength workout this afternoon:

Overhead Box Squats:
Worked up to 145 x 1

Push Press @ 135 w/ pullups after each set:
135 x 5
PU x 15
135 x 5
PU x 13
135 x 6
PU x 15

Afternoons in Arvin are terrible. Worst kind of ignorance comes in at that time of day.

Scaled to:

95#
115#
...??? (never got that far!)

62 reps

I have not been working on snatches AT ALL and I noticed it today. Deplorable...

Mickey - glad to hear the recovery is going well! Too funny about the 'afternoon' crowd. Those 'cadet only' hours must be fun.

nice work by all who took on the snatch WOD...it was a NASTY one! Leigh - great points & so true! When you get back from the cert, you will have to teach us some of the things you learned! Jealous you are going!!
